My deep love for the work of Shel Silversein began when my dad introduced his world to me as a little girl. My many siblings and I would excitedly crowd his chair as he opened up Silverstein's book and read aloud the clever poems to us all. We all attentively listened to the silly poems and explored a world where anything can happen. People can have two-sided heads, carrots as eyes or ride on a shoe. And though most poems where unusual, they were often relatable. He talked about real world problems in clever, understandable ways. He wrote them in ways so that you didn't have to think long or hard. Just listen and you would know. Shel Silversien was a very talented man and I greatly admire what he was able to convey through words and pictures. If you have never heard or read his work, I would encourage you to do so. If you are familiar with his wonderful world, I suggest you to visit it again. You won't regret it!

So cute! Love it! Especially the first poem<3
ReplyDeleteYou might wanna be careful with the sign described in the second poem. If you turn it around while anywhere in the UK, people won't be very happy with you. I like the poem, though.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I was unaware of the UK version of the peace sign. If anyone who sees this and is offended, hopefully they will read the poem and understand what it means in this context. Thanks again for the feedback.
DeleteUhhh, that's not what I meant. I think. If you turn around the peace sign while in the UK, i.e. showing the back of your hand, it's known as flipping the V. Highly offensive. What you show is a peace sign. I apologize for any confusion. I was just trying to create a comment and I wasn't sure what to say.
DeleteOh. You had me worried for a second! I did some research and now I know what you mean. I didn't know about that before.
DeleteI adore Shel Silverstein! He uses such few words to express so many thoughts, ideas and emotions. I wish I could write like him! Great job on this blog.
